The best option when you receive the notification that there is new software for your device is to wait until you are at home or the office where you have a Wi-Fi connection available and once you are connected you can start the FOTA process. FOTA stands for “Firmware over the Air” which means that the updated software for your handset will come directly to the device itself and then with your permission, update the device. In all our latest devices and many from the last few years support FOTA for the distribution of new Firmware (Software for handsets, modems or hotspots etc). Need assistance with upgrading the Firmware our products? Your data can be either backed up via your Google Account, PC or via a micro SD card (sold separately) ZTE advises you to back up your data before updating your software as a good practise. Please refrain from performing any other tasks with the device while the software upgrade as it may stop the update – It is highly unlikely that you will loose any information during a software upgrade process, however in the rare case it may happen. Once you have started the download you will see the progress of the download as it is happening. You can scroll the information displayed to read it all, or just tap on the Download button to start the download of the update file. If the check finds that there is a new update available it will present you with some information and a Download button. Once you open the System Update menu, it will perform a check to find out if there is a new update for your device. You will either be notified of an System Update being available for your device or you can manually check by going to the Settings / System / Advanced / System Update menu.
